The product, called \u201cPalcohol,\u201d could arrive in stores this summer. Last year the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) approved labels for powdered alcohol. It then said\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #2151ae;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.drugfree.org\/join-together\/approval-of-powdered-alcohol-labels-was-a-mistake-government-agency-says\/\">the approval had been a mistake<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #1b1b1b;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #1b1b1b;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Lipsmark, the company that makes Palcohol, plans to sell four powdered products: cosmopolitan, margarita, a vodka and a rum, the article notes. The product will be sold in foil pouches that can be used as a glass. A person pours in five ounces of water, zips up the bag and shakes it until the powder dissolves.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #1b1b1b;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Several states, including Louisiana, South Carolina and Vermont, have\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #2151ae;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.drugfree.org\/join-together\/commentary-powdered-alcohol-remerging-product-causes-concern\/\">banned the use\/sale of powdered alcohol<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #1b1b1b;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">, and a number of other states are considering similar legislation.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #1b1b1b;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">U.S. Senator Charles Schumer of New York\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #2151ae;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.drugfree.org\/join-together\/senator-introduce-bill-ban-powdered-alcohol\/\">introduced a bill last year<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #1b1b1b;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">to ban powdered alcohol. Last May Schumer urged the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to prevent federal approval of powdered alcohol. He said it could become \u201cthe Kool-Aid of teen binge drinking.\u201d Schumer noted the product can be mixed with water, sprinkled on food or snorted.
