Mike Pence, worries the marijuana lobby. They question Pence\u2019s belief that marijuana is a gateway drug and its abuse is a crime, deserving penalty. While the marijuana lobby claims\u00a0\u201cMarijuana is a happy, healthy, wonderful plant and everybody should have the right to grow it, just as they grow\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wthr.com\/story\/21752467\/pence-questions-proposal-to-decrease-marijuana-penalties\">dandelions,<\/a>\u201d the National Insitute of Drugs (NIDA) findings support Pence\u2019s objection to the legalization of marijuana. \u00a0According to NIDA\u2019s latest available data, \u201cillicit drug use in the U.S. is on the rise, and \u201cMore than half of new illicit drug users begin with marijuana.\u201d Yet, marijuana legalization has become an issue in the U.S. presidential elections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">How did we get here?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">The impresario who staged and pushed to legally dope of the American people is the billionaire financier George Soros. He found a kindred spirit in President Obama who got this\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">dog and pony\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">s<\/span>how on the road. The chosen vehicle was Obama-Care. And the first indication for this came on\u00a0August\u00a05, 2009, with the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)\u2019s little noticed tender for the production and distribution of large quantities of marijuana cigarettes,\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">for purposes other\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">than<\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u00a0for research,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">clocked<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"s3\">under the DEA control and<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0supposedly in<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"s3\">compliance\u00a0 with FDA regulations<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">According to pro-legalization activist\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fool.com\/investing\/2016\/07\/10\/residents-in-these-8-states-are-set-to-vote-on-mar.aspx\">Sean Williams<\/a>,\u00a0\u201cPresident Obama has suggested that the best way to get the attention of Congress is to legalize marijuana in as many states as possible at the state level. If a majority of states approve marijuana measures, and public opinion continues to swell in favor of cannabis, Congress may have no choice but to consider decriminalization \u2014 or legalize the substance.\u201d\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">Not surprisingly, recently \u00a0there have been\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">widely-reported\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"http:\/\/www.smobserved.com\/story\/2016\/06\/18\/news\/us-govt-will-legalize-marijuana-on-august-1\/1484.html\"><span class=\"s3\">leaks<\/span><\/a>\u00a0from the\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s4\">DEA \u00a0that the agency anticipates making \u201cmedical\u201d marijuana\u201d legal in all 50 states, even though this requires FDA approval.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">Until the early 1990s, the voices to legalize drugs in the United States were not in sync. This changed with Soros\u2019 first foray into U.S. domestic politics in 1992-1993. Soros, who\u00a0made\u00a0his fortune by bidding on instability, is known to say, \u201cIf I spend enough, I make it right.\u201d\u00a0While other billionaires give to the arts, higher education and medicine to better the quality of the lives of their fellow men, Soros chose to \u201cright\u201d illegal drug use, under the guise of a\u00a0social reformer.\u00a0\u201cThe war on drugs is doing more harm to our society than drug abuse itself.\u201d Due to the widespread social and political opposition\u00a0to illegal drug use, he chose to begin his efforts to \u201cright\u201d the situation, with a popular getaway drug, marijuana \u2013 a brain and mind altering drug that creates life-long dependency. To make his decision more palatable, the ultimate opportunistic Soros, declared marijuana is a \u201ccompassionate drug,\u201d and for more than two decades\u00a0poured tens of millions of dollars into campaigns to first legalize the use of \u201cmedical marijuana,\u201d and more recently to decriminalize the use of \u201crecreational\u201d marijuana.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">Pretending to support an \u201copen society,\u201d Soros, \u00a0uses his philanthropy to \u201cchange\u201d or more accurately deconstruct the moral values and attitudes of the Western world, and particularly of the American people. He claims to support humanitarianism,\u00a0equality and individual and political freedom, what Karl Pooper, the Austrian-born British philosopher argued were necessary for what he considered an \u201copen society.\u201d<span class=\"s1\">nominal contact with Popper while studying at the London School of Economics.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Although Popper met with Soros once or twice while Soros was a student at the London School of Economics, Soros failed to make much of an impression on the old philosopher. According to Michael T. Kaufman\u2019s 2003\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Soros-Life-Times-Messianic-Billionaire\/dp\/037570549X\">unauthorized biography<\/a>\u00a0of the billionaire, when Soros contacted Popper in 1982 to let him know about how he\u2019d been naming funds, foundations, and various other entities after the concepts enshrined in the The Open Society, Popper wrote back: \u201cLet me first thank you for not having forgotten me. I am afraid I forgot you completely; even your name created at first only the most minute resonance. But I made some effort, and now, I think, I just remember you, though I do not think I should recognize you.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">Not surprisingly, Soros\u2019\u00a0\u201copen society\u201d Institute and foundations are not about promoting any of Popper\u2019s ideas. Certainly not freedom. \u00a0Instead, by working diligently to legalize drugs,<strong>\u00a0Soros advances the greatest slavery ever\u2013drug addiction<\/strong>. This sits well with his rejection of the notion of ordered liberty, in favor of a progressive ideology of rights and entitlements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">On February 7, 1996, I opined in The Wall Street Journal that\u00a0<strong>Soros\u2019s \u201csponsorship unified the movement to legalize drugs and gave it the respectability and credibility it lacked<\/strong>.\u201d I suggested \u201c<strong>unchallenged, Soros would change the political landscape of America.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0It took two decades and lots of money to achieve what he set out to get. For him, legalizing marijuana was a necessary stepping-stone to advancing drug policies in the U.S. and elsewhere toward legalizing the use of all drugs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">Money is but one of the many possible speculations on Soros\u2019s motivation to legalize drugs. If asked, he\u2019ll respond with gibberish that makes no sense. \u00a0However, the revenues from the illegal drug trade are enormous. There are no other commodities on the market that yield such high and fast a return. Since 2014, legally listed marijuana producing and distributing companies will be generating huge revenues. Soros seems to believe that state-controlled drug distribution will best serve to increase dependency on the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\"><span class=\"s1\">The overwhelming evidence\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">on the short and long term harm caused by marijuana to the user and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">to society\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">should have stopped any attempt to legalize the drug. However, the vast amounts of money spent on influencing the public and the politicians generated the desired\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">social acceptance of the \u201ccompassionate drug,\u201d marijuana.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">In November 1996, Soros\u2019 efforts\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">succeeded<b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span>in California, making it the first state to legalize \u201cmedical marijuana.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span class=\"s1\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">Recreational use of marijuana has nothing to do with medical marijuana. As with other drugs, the development of marijuana\/cannabis as medicine has to follow modern medical rules \u2013 advancing with clinical trials with specific compounds, looking for side effects and interactions with other drugs, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span class=\"s1\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">But when last November,\u00a0the\u00a0<span class=\"s2\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/drug-enforcement-administration\/\">DEA<\/a><\/span>\u00a0Acting Administrator Chuck Rosenberg said, \u201cWe can have an intellectually honest debate about whether or not we want to legalize something that is bad and dangerous, but\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0call it medicine. That\u2019s a joke.\u201d Rosenberg opined there was a\u00a0need for \u201clegitimate research into the efficacy of marijuana for its constituent parts as a medicine. But I think the notion that state legislatures just decree it so is ludicrous.\u201d The pro-drug lobby called for his dismissal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">Among the ill-effects of marijuana use (whether obtained legally or not) is memory loss, as proven by researchers at Northwestern University. The\u00a0<a class=\"broken_link\" style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"http:\/\/www.redorbit.com\/topics\/thalamus\/\">study also found<\/a>\u00a0\u201cevidence of brain alterations \u2026 significant deterioration in the thalamus, a key structure for learning, memory, and communications between brain regions.\u201d\u00a0 If this were not enough, the study\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"http:\/\/www.redorbit.com\/news\/health\/1113028919\/marijuana-effects-on-the-brain-similar-to-schizophrenia-121613\/\">concluded<\/a>, \u201cchronic marijuana use could\u00a0\u201cmemory-related structure [to] shrivel and collapse.s..[and] boosts the underlying process driving schizophrenia.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">This study\u00a0as many others\u00a0documented the devastating long-term harm caused by marijuana use. Another National Institute on Drug Abuse\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"http:\/\/www.drugabuse.gov\/publications\/drugfacts\/marijuana\">(NIDA)<\/a>\u00a0study found that \u201cmarijuana smoke contains 50% to 70% more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than does tobacco smoke \u2026 which further increases the lungs\u2019 exposure to carcinogenic smoke.\u201d Moreover, \u201cmarijuana users have a 4.8-fold increase in the risk of heart attack in the first hour after smoking the drug. \u2026 This risk may be greater in aging populations or those with cardiac vulnerabilities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">Other studies documented \u201cdistorted perceptions, impaired coordination, difficulty in thinking and problem-solving, and problems with learning and memory.\u201d \u00a0As a result, someone who smokes marijuana every day may be functioning at a suboptimal intellectual level all of the time.\u201d In conclusion: \u201cResearch clearly demonstrates that marijuana has the potential to cause problems in daily life or make a person\u2019s existing problems worse. In fact, heavy marijuana users generally report lower life satisfaction, poorer mental and physical health, relationship problems, and less academic and career success compared to their peers who came from similar backgrounds. For example, marijuana use is associated with a higher likelihood of dropping out from school. Several studies also associate workers\u2019 marijuana smoking with increased absences, tardiness, accidents, workers\u2019 compensation claims, and job turnover.\u201d NIDA\u2019s latest survey from 2013, show that drug users are exacting more than\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.drugabuse.gov\/publications\/drugfacts\/nationwide-trends\">$700 billion annually<\/a>\u00a0in costs related to crime, lost work productivity and health care. Add yo this the cost of newly hooked Americans on social welfare, including food stamps, Obamacare, public housing, free cell phones, and other entitlements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">Moving to relax Federal oversight on marijuana use, a Department of Justice\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"http:\/\/medicalmarijuana.procon.org\/sourcefiles\/cole-DOJ-memo-aug-2013.pdf\">memo<\/a>\u00a0on August 29, 2013,\u00a0clarified the government\u2019s prosecutorial priorities and stated that the federal government would rely on state and local law enforcement to \u201caddress marijuana activity through enforcement of their own narcotics laws.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">When Colorado legalized the use of \u201crecreational\u201d use of marijuana, on January 1, 2014, the TSA announced it stopped deploying detection dogs in the state\u2019s airports, even though these dogs are trained to also detect other illegal drugs, explosives, blood, contraband electronics, stashed\u00a0currency, and more. Similar measures will take place once marijuana is legalized, exposing American airport to terrorist attacks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size: 10pt;color: #0000ff\">The Obama\u2019s endorsed and Soros\u2019 funded Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, has\u00a0<a class=\"broken_link\" style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hillaryclinton.com\/feed\/what-president-obamas-legacy-means-me\/\">promised<\/a>\u00a0to \u201cdefend and build on the progress\u2026made under President Obama,\u201d including his and the billionaire\u2019s efforts to legalize marijuana.
